|
|
This is a really cool setup by one of our customers in Japan using 4 6" Dry Wash Towers manufactured by Arbor Biofuels Company.
(4) 6" Dry Wash Towers plumbed in series. Front towers have Eco2Pure in them. Rear have Thermax & Puralite. Pump is an LMI Diaphragm Metered Pump
This is the top of the first Eco2Pure tower. Fuel coming in is heated from the feed tank and run through the pump into the tower. Connections are via a camlock and ball valve with a pressure gauge attached. Also in view is a temperature well for checking temperatures and an air drain purge on top. All of the towers are plumbed this way for a common easy configuration. All piping is reduced from 3/4" to 1/2" and feed rate is set at 85% output or 8 GPH.
Plumbing is again reduced to 1/2" coming out of the bottom of the tower and feeds two ball valves. One is for draining, sampling and media purging of Eco2Pure via an air compressor. The other ball valve is the connection going to the next Eco2Pure tower or for blocking off air during purging. All connections are made via camlock disconnects (like top of towers). The pump shown is an LMI Metering Pump (C771-20) rated at 10 GPH.
This is the top of the 2nd Eco2Pure Tower. Setup is identical to the first except this one has the temp gauge installed in the temp well.
This is the same as the bottom of the other tower except they've installed a 10 Micron Cim-Tek BioTek 10 Micron fuel filter inline to keep particles out of the Thermax.
These two are the top of the 3rd tower, which is the first Thermax tower. A 100 volt, 1000 Watt immersion heater has been installed and set at 30 to 40 deg. C to keep the Biodiesel warm while it goes into the Thermax tower. Besides the heaters, everything is the same as the top of the Eco2Pure Columns.
This is a picture of the bottom of the first Thermax tower. Again, set up identical to the Eco2Pure towers with a CimTek 10 Micron Fuel Filter installed.
The tower on the right is the top of the 4th and final dry wash tower. This one contains Purolite. This one is set up just like the other towers.
This is the output side of the final tower. This one feeds fuel through another CimTek Filter (Part # 70230 MicroGlass filter) and then heads over to the finished tank.
This is the Biodiesel processor. They make 100 liter batches in it but it has the capacity to make up to 115 liter batches. It's completely stainless steel, has a heater, mixer, methanol recovery, and a circulator that you can attach a bag filter too.
This is a picture of the oil filters. A 10 Micron Bag Filter is on the left and a 3 micron canister filter on the output side that heads off to the tank that the dry wash towers pull from.
This is a plastic tank that they store their waste vegetable oil in. It holds 250 liters.
The tank on the left is a 220 liter stainless holding tank that comes from the processor after bubble washing & settling has occurred. Fuel from this tank feeds into the dry wash towers. It has a band heater on it that keeps the fuel at 40-50 deg. C. It has an adjustable feed draw off (where it pulls the fuel from in the tank) that is set at about 5" above the bottom of the tank.
The right hand tank, a 220 liter stainless tank, is the holding tank that the finished Biodiesel coming out of the 4th dry wash tower is housed in. They pull from this tank to fill up their school bus that the fuel is being produced for.
All in all, a very impressive setup!
Arbor Biofuels helped with a great deal of information and consultation on this setup providing them with all the necessary sizing information they would need to get this setup going.
